School Science Residency Programme
Audience: Schools, primarily outside Kathmandu
Science that arrives at the school
The School Science Residency brings HICS to schools — especially those far from Kathmandu — for several days at a time. It is not a visit with a slide deck: students step inside a portable planetarium, build and use real instruments, analyse live data, and their teachers are trained alongside them. Every residency leaves something behind, and begins a relationship that lasts.
Planetarium sessions ▸
The portable dome brings the night sky indoors — constellations from Nepal's own latitude, planetary motion, and Nepali astronomical traditions.
Instrument workshop ▸
Students build and use real sensors, seeing how measurement actually works rather than reading about it.
Data analysis ▸
Hands-on work with live HICS data — the same datasets researchers use.
Teacher training ▸
Teachers are trained during the residency so the science continues long after HICS leaves.
Launching 2026–27, alongside the portable planetarium build. Schools outside Kathmandu are the priority. Get in touch to register interest.
